We have had a fantastic experience working with Jeanne! We knew about service dogs helping kids like our daughter Willa, who is neurodiverse. However, we didn’t know where to go for help. We were referred to Jeanne by one of Willa’s classmates who had an awesome service dog that Jeanne trained.

We connected with Jeanne to discuss Willa’s needs and understand how she could help in selecting and training a dog for us. Cheese went to Jeanne for his “puppy manners” and initial foundation skills training before he came home. As part of his training plan, he has gone back to Jeanne for subsequent training and will complete his final task training soon. He has already proven to be an exceptional dog and has made a huge difference for Willa.

“BIrklandshire K9 Dog Training and Jeanne have been absolutely wonderful to work with. I lost my hearing my Junior year of high school, and have since received a Cochlear Implant, which has completely changed my life! However, despite the benefit from the Implant, my world is very quiet when I take my hearing aid off to shower, sleep, or simply unwind. That is where Jeanne comes into play! Jeanne is helping us train my dog, Charlie, to be my ears when my hearing implant is off. We chose to go the “Train the handler” route, and our sessions consist of Jeanne doing training tasks with Charlie and teaching us how we can train him at home. Jeanne listens and talks through my specific needs and is thorough with her training curriculum. We feel as though Charlie has made great progress with Jeanne, and we have learned so much! Charlie is in the process of learning the task, “Wakey! Wakey!” in which he will soon know that he needs to come wake me up when he hears a fire alarm go off at night - something I would sleep right through. Although we have a ways to go with Charlie, I already feel safer knowing that he is learning from Jeanne, and that she is helping us through this!
